The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party ( LP), Peter Obi, literarily shuts down the Lagos International Trader Fair when his campaign train stormed the market.

The traders in their large numbers, abandoned their stalls to welcome the August visitor, the LP presidential candidate with the usual song in the chorus of his name: ” Obi ! Obi! Obi!. ”
The mega rally became melodramatic of a sort as Obi’s Vice, Detti Baba Ahmed who first mounted the podium, opened his speech with one of the popular songs of late Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti.

Though, Detti’s poor rendition of the Afrobeat popular tune almost marred the rally until Obi emerged to thanked the traders who demonstrated their unflinching support by closing their shops to welcome him and his campaign train.

Still standing on his political mantra of converting Nigeria from a consuming nation into a productive one, the LP presidential candidate assured the people that that remains the only sure way to extricate Nigeria and Nigerians from the shackles of poverty.

In this regard, Obi told the traders that they would be playing a pivotal role in his administration as goods produced would be sold by them.

He disclosed that traders who have the financial power and technical dexterity to engage in production would be encouraged by his administration through grants and other instruments, upon assumption of office as President elect.

The LP presidential candidate said his government would ensure provision of infrastructure across board, adding that he had visited countries where electricity is in abundance compared to Nigeria where it’s in short supply.

He promised to replicate what he had seen in those countries by ensuring 48hours supply of electricity as that remains the only practicable way Nigeria’s quest for industrialisation would be achieved.

The LP presidential candidate who assured the mammoth crowd that their is no magic wand to the provision of electricity, declared that his administration would first tackle insecurity in Nigeria as the nation’s economy revolves around it, adding that no nation can thrive economically or otherwise in the midst of insecurity.

He, however, enjoined Nigerians to cast their votes for the party for the nation to move to the next level.

Also, available reports at the weekend, showed that some group of persons, stormed the federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja, drumming support for the LP presidential candidate.

Earlier, a member of the group who would not want his name in print, told newsmen that the same feat would be replicated in virtually all the 36 states in Nigeria in order to ensure that Peter Obi emerges as Nigeria’s next president.
