  • Nigerians React, Hail Finnish Govt

Attempts by the factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nigerian based Finland luminary, Simon Ekpa to scuttle the February 25 presidential election in the South East with his Sit-At-Home order, has drew the ire of the Finland as the government issued 48hrs ultimatum to reverse the directive.

A release by the Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Mirella Marin warned that should the IPOB Leader remains adamant, the government would not hesitate to effect his arrest and charged him for international terrorism.

The Prime Minister disclosed that her Attorney-General, Raija Toivianen have been properly briefed to ensure that the directive be immediately carried out.

It would be recalled that the IPOB Agitator recently declared a Sit-At-Home order from 23 to 28 February with the apparent aim to stop the conduct of the 2023 general elections in the region.

Ekpa was reported to have said that halting the 2023 general elections in the region would help his faction to achieve the sovereign state of Biafra for Igbo speaking people in South East and South South Nigeria.

Against this backdrop, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, summoned the Finland Ambassador to Nigeria for a meeting on possible ways to check the excesses of the IPOB Leader whose Sit-At-Home order has wrecked unprecedented havoc in the South East.

It was a fall out of this meeting that the Finland wrote to the IPOB Agitator, Simon Ekpa to withdrew his earlier directive to members of his proscribed movement.

The letter reads in part: ” following complaint by Nigerians in Finland and the Nigerian government about your various pronouncements, using social media outlets to impose sit-at-home in Nigeria, you are hereby warned to desist from such nefarious activities which are capable of disturbing the peace and causing bloodshed.

“More worrisome to the Finnish government is your imposition of your sit-at-home order on days slated for the democratic elections in Nigeria. This is an act of international terrorism.

“You are hereby directed to call off your planned sit-at-home by pronouncing through the same media outlets you used for your illegal pronouncements, a reversal of the order,” Finnish government stated with a tone of finality.

However Nigerians who are abreast with the Simon Ekpa’s involvement in wrecking monumental havoc in the South East, expressed joy over the stance of the Finnish government.

A network monitored by The New Diplomat, showed that Nigerians were happy with the Finnish government stance.

Excerpts

Obinna Nnaji:
Nice move. I don’t know what is wrong with some of our people. A wise man should be able to know when to apply diplomacy.

Okoye Mathias:
Only God will pay Simon Ekpa and his gang of bandits for the number of people they have killed and maimed as well as the countless houses pulled down in their nefarious activities.

Okonkwo Paul:
What an irony? You are killing people you claimed to be fighting for. This is madness first class.

Okoro Father:
The Finnish government should endeavour to complete the process by expediting his repatriation to Nigeria for prosecution. Idiot

Blessing Akpan:
Tell me this is real.

Fada Mokonzi:
Let’s see what happens

Ajebo Chukwu;

I don’t believe this
