The man identified as Shuaibu Yushau has also been referred to the Social Development Secretariat for mental assessment and evaluation by the FCT police command.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, by the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Benneth Igweh.

Igweh in the statement, said the Police will proceed with due diligence in both legal and humanitarian aspects of the incident.

According to the Police, if Yushau is deemed mentally fit following evaluation, he would face charges under sections 231, 111, and 114 of the Penal Code Act, on attempted suicide, disturbance of public peace, and incitement.

The Police Command emphasized the necessity of maintaining public order while respecting individuals’ rights to express grievances through lawful means.

The statement reads in part: “We are taking this matter seriously to ensure both the safety of Mr. Yushau and the community.
