Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi has again triggered massive reactions across various social media platforms with recent photos serving food to guests at a humanitarian outreach in Umuchima Town, Imo State, on Thursday, July 10.

The event which was held under a beautifully decorated canopy with golden drapes, showcased Obi serving food alongside renowned Catholic priest Fr. Maurice Emelu, PhD, as part of a Jubilee Year of Hope initiative inspired by Pope Francis.

The outreach event also saw Obi Collaborating with Fr. Emelu to provide what many described as essential supplies to guests and participants.

While reacting on social media, many described the move as laudable, saying it reinforces Obi’s image as a leader who engages directly with grassroots communities as well as volunteers for the wellbeing of the people

Indeed, the unexpected act elicited a wave of reactions across social media, with opinions split between admiration and skepticism about the politician’s intentions.

While some hailed the act as a testament to Obi’s down-to-earth persona, others, however, questioned the motive, with some labeling it a calculated move to bolster his image ahead of the 2027 elections.

Some accused Obi of trying to play to the gallery. ” Be your true self. Don’t play to the gallery,” one social media activist wrote on Facebook.
