Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has officially launched her move to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

The New Diplomat reports that the event began today, Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

It was gathered that Hilda Baci will be cooking over 250 bags of rice in a custom 6-meter-wide pot at Eko Hotels and Suites.

Hilda Baci, the chef who made headlines in 2023 for her record-breaking 100-hour cooking marathon, shared the electrifying moment on social media, captioning a video of the preparations: “In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”

The attempt, initially slated for Muri Okunola Park, was relocated to Eko Hotel due to overwhelming public interest, ensuring a safer and more accommodating space for the massive crowd expected to witness the historic cook-off.

Thousands of people are already gathering at the Eko Hotel to witness the cooking.
