Nigerians have begun to react to a reported decision by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Bola Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Nasir Ja’oji, to appoint seven aides.

The development came after a document surfaced online, showing the purported appointments.

The document reads in part: “Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, Hon. Nasir Baba Aminu Ja’oji, approved the following appointments:

1. Waleed Kaber Waya Media Aide (IV)

2. Mustapha Musa Technical Assistant, Inter-state Affairs

3. Danjuma Salisu Protocol Officer

4. Abdulahi Yusuf Faggee Technical Assistant, Party Affairs

5. Amina Samu Hotoro Technical Assistant, Media (II)

6. Gambo Ahmad Abubakar (GJA) Special Assistant, Political

7. Muhammad Abubakar Jimyawa Technical Assistant, New Media

“These appointments were based on integrity, an excellent record of performance, and hard work.

“Please accept the assurance of our highest respect and regards always.”

Recall that Ja’oji, replaced Rinsola Abiola as Tinubu’s SSA on citizenship and leadership in August after she was promoted to head the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC).

Meanwhile, the development has drawn the attention of many Nigerians, as some criticised the move.

Some Nigerians described the purported appointments as an overreach.Below are some of the reactions;

“SSA to the President is also appointing someone as Director General under his own office. Btw SSA and DG, which one is even superior? SSA is even using the coat of arms as its official letterhead. Jokes apart, Oga COS and SGF need to caution some appointees of FGN,” tweeted commentator @DejiAdesogan.

Another user, @IU_Wakilii, wrote: “What’s with President Tinubu’s appointments? The SSA to the President has a Coat of Arms on his office letterhead and is even appointing a Director General for Political Matters, a whole DG! This SSA clearly thinks he’s the President of Nigeria!”
