The Nigerian flag and other national flags at the Presidential Villa, Abuja are currently flying at half-mast in honor of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and other military officers who lost their lives in a plane crash on Friday.

This is also in compliance to a directive issued by President Muhamamdu Buhari.

Buhari in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Sunday, had announced that the flags would fly at half-mast.

According to the directive of the President, the gesture would last for three days.

Attahiru alongside 10 other military officers were on board an ill-fated military aircraft that crashed at the Kaduna International Airport on Friday.
