Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, has said that the economic potential of the Dangote Refinery is huge, stressing that the refinery has the capacity to generate about $21Billion revenue annually as well as create over 100,000 jobs for Nigerians.

In a post tagged ‘Dangote Refinery Should Be Fully Supported, Not Vilified’ on his verified X page on Tuesday, Obi stated that the refinery is an economic asset rather than a political issue.

Furthermore, Obi who is also a former governor of Anambra state noted that the ongoing conflict by Dangote refinery and the management of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company limitef(NNPCL) is an issue that requires instant resolution on account of the fact that Dangote refinery is a national treasure.

“This issue transcends political affiliations and personal grievances. It is fundamentally about Nigeria’s economy, future, and the well-being of its citizens.

“Given Alhaji Dangote’s significant contributions to Nigeria, it is crucial that these disputes are resolved swiftly.”

Obi highlighted the refinery’s capability to generate approximately $21 billion in annual revenue and create over 100,000 jobs, a development which he said could significantly boost Nigeria’s economy.

He said:” Dangote Refinery and its associated enterprises. The refinery has the potential to generate approximately $21 billion in annual revenue and create over 100,000 jobs, with numerous additional positive impacts on the economy.”

He added:”In the interest of Nigeria and its citizens, as well as Africans at large, I urge the Federal Government and its agencies to provide Dangote Industries, especially the refinery, with all necessary support.

“The success of Dangote is intrinsically linked to the success of Nigeria and Africa; conversely, its failure would be a significant setback for both Nigeria and the continent.”
