The head coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has expressed optimism that his side can still achieve “very good things” this season despite suffering five straight defeats.

Guardiola who spoke during a press conference ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday, said the season is still early and his side can still compete to achieve major trophies

He said he is not ready to give up on the season despite the losses. He stated: “I have the feeling that this season we will do very good things. I don’t give up and I have the feeling we will be there.

“You are defending a legacy, a tradition, a success that is so difficult to handle.

“So, that’s why I relax. If we don’t do it, we don’t do it. It’s just to try to focus in the short period and win the next games.

“So, what I want is a commitment.”

The New Diplomat reports that though Manchester City currently sits in second position on the English Premier League table, they are already eight points behind leaders Liverpool.

They are also currently 10th in the Champions League standings after two wins, a draw and a defeat in their opening four matches, and out of the League Cup.
