The Delta state government has said that the exit of Senator Ned Nwoko from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state is inconsequential.

The Commissioner for Information, in Delta State, Charles Aniagwu, who dismissed the defection of the lawmaker representing the Northern Senatorial District of the state, Ned Nwoko, as insignificant said the later is of no political consequences in Delta North.

Nwoko had announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last week.

However, Aniagwu faulted Nwoko’s claim that he has been a staunch member of the PDP since 1999 recalling that the legislator had previously defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance in 2003 (APC) and to the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) in 2011.

The commissioner maintained that the PDP won Ned’s constituency in both instances

Aniagwu said this while speaking with journalists on Tuesday. He said, “Now that he has left the PDP, we are not bothered because the party will win Delta North Senatorial District in 2027.”

Aniagwu added, “Our concern now is to concentrate on governance. It’s not the time to play politics, but I know that when the time comes, the PDP will still win.”
