The operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ogun State have reportedly arrested the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ladi Adebutu.

It was gathered that Adebutu was arrested on Monday in Ogun State.

While details of the arrest remain sketchy as of press time, insider sources said the former governorship candidate may have been arrested in connection allegations relating to last Saturday’s local government election in Ogun State.

Speaking on the arrest, the publicity secretary of PDP in Ogun, Kayode Adebayo, said he was detained for charges yet unknown.

Adebayo, who spoke with the press also noted that efforts to secure his bail proved abortive at about 10 pm.

He stated: ”The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party has truly been detained by the DSS for charges yet unknown.

“Several efforts have been made to secure his bail as of 10 pm on Monday, 18th November 2024, either on personal recognition or by a surety, but none has yielded any result so far; his lawyers have been informed, and they will take it on Tuesday.

“However, our principal has called for calm and directed that all members of the party, supporters, and well-wishers should be rest assured that this time shall pass; it is one of the prices for our democracy.”
