The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has urged all party members and stakeholders to remain calm as seven members of the National Working Committee (NWC) tendered their resignation letters on Tuesday.

There has been palpable tension in the PDP as seven national deputy officers of the party resigned from their respective positions, citing “bad treatment, unpleasant working environment” as the reasons for their action.

Amid escalating tension that the seven members who resigned might switch allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP governors’ Forum urged all aggrieved members to hold their peace, assuring that efforts were ongoing to tackle the challenges facing the party.

The forum made the call in a statement issued by its Chairman and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal.

The statement partly reads, “The Governors hereby call on all members of the party and indeed all stakeholders to remain calm in the face of the developments.

“We plead with all aggrieved persons and those with the interest of the PDP at heart to keep their gun powder dry.

“Efforts are being made in consultation with members of the PDP Board of Trustees and other stakeholders to resolve all contending issues.”
