The internal turmoil gripping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated dramatically on Saturday, November 1, 2025, as the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) announced the suspension of four top national officers, including National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN).
The swift action, taken at an emergency NWC meeting in Abuja, also affects the National Organising Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature, and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha.
The officials have been handed a one-month suspension and have been referred to the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, confirmed the suspensions in a press briefing, citing the officials’ alleged engagement in conduct “inconsistent with the provisions of the PDP Constitution and detrimental to the interest of the party.”
He stated: “The NWC, in line with the party’s constitution, came to the following conclusion: the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and National Organizing Secretary have been suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee.”
The New Diplomat reports that the move comes barely 24 hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja halted the planned National convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
