Esther Ogechi Nworgu has won Silver in the women’s line up to 41kg para-powerlifting, becoming the second Nigerian athlete to win a medal at the ongoing 2024 Paralympic Games.
The New Diplomat reports that Nworgu gave a remarkable performance on Wednesday.
She became the first Nigerian to finish second place in para-powerlifting after lifting an impressive 112kg and 118kg, respectively.
However, her quest to win a gold medal was crashed after China’s Zhe Cui edged her out with a new Paralympic Record of 119kg to win the Gold medal.
This comes after Eniola Bolaji won a bronze medal in the women’s singles SL3 badminton at the ongoing 2024 Paris Paralympics.
She won Nigeria’s first medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Bolaji won the bronze medal at the La Chapelle Arena after defeating Ukraine’s Kozyna Oksana 2-0 in a one-sided third-place match.
