In its bid to ensure peace and harmony, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo of Oyo State, Oba Saliu Adetunji, at the weekend at the weekend dropped the controversial titles of “His Royal Highness” or “His Royal Majesty.”

In a statement signed by the President and Secretary of the body,  Chief Emma Nzeako and Chief Nwanze Okechukwu respectively, stated that Igbo leadership issues in Ibadan and Oyo State in general have long been settled in favour of the foremost businessman, Dr. Alex Anozie as the head of Igbos in the state since 1997.

Alleging that the position of the Olubadan-In-Council that Ndigbos should drop the royal titles may not be unconnected with the handiwork of their detractors who lost out in the court, the release restated that ‘Anozie has since been democratically chosen as the head of all Indigbos in the state by all the Igbo communities, town unions,  and traders associations residing in Ibadan and Oyo state in general.’

To this end, the leaders of Ohanaeze  said they were at a loss as to why Dr. Anozie would have to report to Olubadan through the Baale of Ekotedo when in actual fact he was not chosen by only the Igbos resident in Ekotedo but those in the entire Ibadanland and Oyo state in general.
