The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee has shortlisted 72 lawyers from a pool of legions practising the noble profession for the conferment of the coveted rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2025.

This was disclosed in a public notice signed by the LPPC Secretary and Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi, on Wednesday.

The committee, however, did not mention the actual number of legal luminaries that failed to make the shortlist.

According to the notice there are 57 advocate applicants and 15 academics, shortlisted in line with the committee’s guidelines.

Meanwhile, the shortlisted lawyers have the hurdle of final interview to scale before being garlanded with the prestigious SAN rank.

The LPPC has called on members of the public to submit comments on the integrity, competence, and reputation of the shortlisted applicants.

“Every complaint must be accompanied with a verifying affidavit deposed to by the author before a superior court of record in Nigeria or before a Notary Public and must be in twenty (20) copies, which must be received,” the notice read.

The committee clarified that being shortlisted does not guarantee conferment of the SAN rank.

According to the committee, the final list of successful candidates will be announced after the conclusion of all assessments and interviews.
