Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, despite suspending his campaign for 72 hours was welcome to Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo on Monday.
Addressing crowd at the campaigns, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel described the Peoples Democratic Party’s flag bearer as economic Messiah to the Nigerian people.
“Today is about the economic future of our country. Anywhere in the world when you are contesting to be the President of a country in any developed nation, it is economic policy that will drive your followership. The only candidate today in Nigeria amongst all presidential candidate who has an economic blueprint for the future of this country for the youths, human capacity development with understanding of job creation is no other person than Atiku Abubakar.”
Gov. Udom Emmanuel also use the opportunity to request for a refinery in Akwa Ibom State.
On his part, the PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus asked the PDP supporters to free Nigeria from the current hardship by voting for Atiku on February 16.
“Today we have intimidation of the National Assembly and Judiciary. It is now concluded across the World and Nigeria that we can no longer keep quiet and silence that all the action of Buhari are threats to democracy and the existence of our country. This country must be liberated. ” PDP Chairman said.
At the Uyo gathering, a minute silence was observed to reflect on what has happened to the Nigeria judiciary in the last few days.
While speaking, Atiku commended the steadfastness of the Akwa Ibom people over their support for his candidature.
“I commend the people of Akwa Ibom State for remaining steadily behind PDP. Today we have the highest rate of unemployment in the history of our country. Today United Nations has declared Nigeria the headquarters of poverty in the world. This is what APC has brought for you.”
“One of our most important policy is to restore the economy because we have people like Gov Udom who is an economic wizard. What he has achieved in Akwa Ibom, no other governor has achieved. Another of our cardinal policy is to restructure this country. If we restructure this country Akwa Ibom is going to be more prosperous than it is today. The refinery is going to come. I don’t discriminate, my personal photographer is an Akwa Ibomite. 70% of government would be dedicated to youth and women.” Atiku said.
