The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, on Wednesday commended the directive of the Presidency on the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission. The governor, who spoke through, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Ojo Oyewamide, in Akure, there was a need to deal with corrupt practices in the agencies of government in Nigeria.
Akeredolu noted that only a forensic audit of the NDDC would return the commission to the path of fiscal discipline, accountability and transparency.
He said, “The directive by Mr President that a forensic audit of the NDDC be carried out remains the best in the direction of transparency, accountability and fiscal discipline.
”Such move, no doubt, sets not just a benchmark but a desirable check on how the agency would be run now and in the near future. The directive is noble and deserves every support it requires.
