Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the Governor of Ondo State, marking the official start of his first full four-year term.

The New Diplomat reports that the inauguration ceremony took place at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital, on Monday.

The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola, at approximately 12:59 PM, shortly after his deputy, Olayide Adelami, took his oath.

But curiously, the wife of late Aketi , Akeredolu’s wife, Betty was silent throughout this period. No words was heard from here. Recall that there has been no love lost between her and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The swearing-in ceremony came after his victory in the gubernatorial election held on November 16, 2024.

Aiyedatiwa, who contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC), won a landslide victory, securing all 18 local government areas in the state.

The swearing-in ceremony also comes over a year after Aiyedatiwa first assumed the governorship on December 27, 2023, following the death of his predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who succumbed to prostate cancer in Germany.

At that time, Aiyedatiwa, then the deputy governor, was sworn in as the substantive governor to complete Akeredolu’s term.

In his inaugural address on Monday, Aiyedatiwa expressed his commitment to building on the legacies of Akeredolu, particularly in areas such as security, infrastructure, health, and education.

He highlighted the establishment of the Amotekun security network under Akeredolu as a key achievement that strengthened regional security and pledged to continue prioritizing the welfare of Ondo State’s citizens.

Aiyedatiwa also emphasized that his administration would place the people first in all decision-making processes, aiming to deliver good governance and sustainable development.
