The Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters (South) to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Mr. Andrew Ogunsakin, has resigned his appointment.
Ogunsakin who is said to be an ally of Deputy Governor of the State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, resigned to join Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) according to a source.
The Deputy Governor, is the Governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party.
In his resignation letter dated September 18, 2020, Ogunsakin said: “The call of my constituents on me to join the train to actualize a common aspiration different from what is offered by your government and your party stands at the root of my decision to quit at this point
“Being an appointee, this will necessarily conflict with the performance of my duty to you. Hence my resignation.
“I thank your Excellency for the opportunity afforded me to serve the good people of Ondo State as SSA, for the period I was in office”
Recall that Ogunsakin was said to be among the many political appointees whose appointment were influenced by Agboola. According to a reliable source, he would be defecting to the Zenith Labour party tomorrow during the flag-off campaign of its governorship candidate, Agboola in Ore area of the state.
Also Recall that Ogunsakin was a close political associate of the immediate past governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
With different campaigns currently on-going and accusation and counter accusations of alleged attacks from different candidates and their supporters hurled at each other, the Ondo governorship election scheduled for October 10 promises to be quite interesting.
According to political insiders, the race will be a battle among three candidates:
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Party (APC), Mr Eyitsyo Jegede of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Hon Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
