The decampees, who are from different clans across the entire Ughelli South Local Government Area, converged at the Ibru Unity Centre field in Ovwor-Olomu where they were received by the outgoing Delta Central Senatorial chairman of the APC, Olorogun Adelabu Bodjor.
Other chieftains of the party present at the occasion included the House of Representatives member representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, Francis Waive; member representing Ethiope East constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Anidi; member representing Ughelli North Constituency I, Oniyere; incoming State chairman of the APC, Elder Omeni Sobotie; the incoming Delta Central Senatorial chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki; incoming State Deputy Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo; State APC Ex-officio, Chuks Erhire; APC chairman for Ughelli South, Chief Sam Kekeje among others.
Addressing the decampees who included hundreds of youths and women, Omo-Agege commended their decision, adding that the ruling PDP had done enough damage to the state and should be chased away so that Deltans could breathe fresh air.
Omo-Agege charged the incoming decampees to consider themselves as bona fide members of the party who are entitled to every benefit enjoyed by older members of the party, adding that they should go all out to canvass for and attract more people from other parties to the APC.
He said: “PDP has done enough damage in Delta State. We need you to chase them away from Delta State. And you know that with you we can do it.
“Now, as I welcome you as new members to the party today, I also welcome you as canvassers. I welcome you as Ambassadors of the party. Go back to your various communities, go back to your various wards and go back to your various units and preach the gospel that enough is enough.
“You have the opportunity to help us chase away the PDP government. So, you go back and canvass to the people that they will have a better Delta State in 2023.”
Earlier, while receiving the new decampees into the party, Bodjor had told them to consider themselves as bona fide members of the party who are entitled to whatever rights and privileges were enjoyed by older members, adding that there was no discrimination in the APC.
While presenting the new decampees to the party, Kekeje, recalled that Omo-Agege had charged the local government executive to attract more members into the party, adding that the occasion was the fufilment of that charge.
Kekeje thanked the DSP for making much impact on Ughelli South Local Government Area in terms of projects, empowerment and employment, adding that they were very grateful to him.
