Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege has mourned the passage of Elder Erebi, a former President-General of Isoko Development Union (IDU).

Senator Omo-Agege who is representing Delta Central at the Upper Legislative Chambers said over the years, Erebi, a running mate to Chief Great Ogboru in the Delta State gubernatorial election of 2015 on the platform of the Labour Party, has distinguished himself as a committed leader among his people and the entire Delta state.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Deputy Senate President who is also the Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee said: “With profound sadness and deep sorrow, I learned of the sudden passing away of Elder Peter Erebi, an accomplished businessman, a renowned philanthropist, a community leader and a politician.

“On behalf of the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, I express my heartfelt condolences to the family of this distinguished Deltan as well as the Isoko people.

“As a true progressive, Elder Peter Erebi enjoyed everyone’s love and respect for his diligence and readiness to do all that was necessary to bring change to governance in Delta State. He served his Isoko nation with deep commitment and worked for the wellbeing of the Isoko people.

“Peter Erebi’s passing is a heavy loss to all of us and his memory will remain evergreen in the hearts of the Isoko people in particular and Deltans in general.

“Indeed, we have lost a wise and erudite leader whose empathy and compassion for the people through his philanthropy, made him a much loved leader.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends, as well as the Isoko people at this time. I wish them the fortitude to bear this loss.”
