Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo- Agege has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the newly-elected presidential candidate of the All-Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement by Ima Niboro, Director, Communications and Media Strategy, Delta APC Gubernatorial Campaign Organization, Omo-Agege particularly lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the governing APC for giving all the aspirants a level playing field.

Omo- Agege who himself is the standard-bearer of APC in the 2023 governorship election in Delta State, hailed Tinubu for winning Tuesday’s presidential primary of the APC to emerge as the party’s candidate for the 2023 Presidential election, just as he showered glowing tributes on APC Northern Governors for setting the pace by zoning the Presidency to the South.

The New Diplomat had earlier reported that Tinubu won the presidential ticket of the ruling APC for the 2023 general elections by securing 1271 votes cast to defeat his opponents, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, who got 316 and 235 votes respectively to come second and third.

Declaring Tinubu the winner, Atiku Bagudu, the Chairman of the Election Committee of the Convention and the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) announced the result and congratulated the winner.

“This is to certify that Asiwaju having secured the highest votes is hereby declared the winner. I hereby declare him as the winner and he is the presidential candidate of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 Presidential Election” he said.

Reacting to the victory, Omo-Agege called on Tinubu to be magnanimous in victory while stressing the need for all presidential aspirants to join hands with the APC Presidential candidate and the party in ensuring victory.

“Not everyone gave APC a chance to conduct a free, fair, credible presidential primary. With the undercurrents in the buildup, some had predicted that our great party would go into extinction after this Convention.
“But with the transparent process that saw the emergence of Asiwaju Tinubu as our party standard-bearer, I am confident more than ever before that this is the beginning of even greater tidings for our party.

“We proved our critics wrong. We have shown that with unity of purpose, the sky is our starting point,” he said.

The Deputy Senate President called on Nigerians to support Tinubu and other APC candidates at all levels in the forthcoming polls.
