Ahead of the 2023 governorship election, the Delta Central Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Olorogun Ede Dafinone, has declared that the incumbent Senator representing Urhobos in the Senate and Deputy President of the Senate, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege has the capacity and capability to win over the State from the stranglehold of the PDP led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who is reported to be owing workers salaries.

It would be recalled that BudgetIT, a national economic platform for monitoring governance at all levels recently named Delta State among states that are indebted to workers not withstanding that Governor Okowa recently got the State House of Assembly to approve a bogus loan of N75bn purportedly for use in Delta State.

Chief Dafinone who spoke on Omo- Agege’s excellent performance as the Senator representing the Urhobo during his consultation visit to the elders and leaders of the APC at Odjedi in Okpe local government area, recently, stated categorically that in the past seven years as a Senator, Omo-Agege has demonstrated that he possess the capacity to deliver when elected as governor of Delta State.

The prominent Urhobo son and scion of the late Senator David Dafinone family, assured the people that he would work and offer quality and effective representation for the people of Urhobo land when he gets to the Senate come 2023.

“Urhobos in the PDP have not been empowered in the past 11 years, so it’s time to seek alternative and those of us in the opposition also needs to be in government because we are tired of looking from outside when we have better programmes and policies to better our State”.

“DSP Omo-Agege has done very well by providing basic amenities, and infrastructure development in Delta Central, so it’s time for APC to take over in Delta State”, Dafinone said.

He therefore stressed the “need to vote for Omo-Agege in next year’s election”, noting that “APC is sending qualified people with experience to represent the party come 2023.”

Responding, Chief Julius Okpoko, the Okpe Elders and Leaders Council, acting Chairman said they were prepared to work with Chief Dafinone and other candidates of the party, adding that the Okpes will deliver Sapele and Okpe local government in the forth-coming election.

“Your project is Okpe project and the leaders we have here are from the 10 Wards in Okpe local government. We will take this project upon ourselves we will deliver Sapele and Okpe local government in the forth-coming election”, Okpoko said.

In Ethiope East Local Government, where Dafinone and his team also visited, Chief David Emuvie Emaniru, Okakuro Tedwin Emudainowho and Chief Ayeni all pledged their support for Ede’s senatorial ambition.

In Orhuoka, Chief Dr David Emuvie Emaniru assured the chartered accountant that the entire people of Orhuoka will vote for him

“Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is not the first Urhobo man who has gone to the Senate, yet he has touched the lives of everyone in Urhobo land. You have not gone to the Senate but I have heard a lot about you and I know when you get there, you will do more,” he said.

At Ekrejeta, Okakuro Dr Tedwin Emudainowho while speaking said Ethiope East was fully prepared to work for Dafinone in the forth-coming election.

Chief Julius Ogboru, the party LGA chairman, also assured Dafinone of their preparedness to make Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the governor.

At Erho Abraka, Chief Ayeni was straightforward ‘we don’t know how to deceive people. Our votes in Ward 2 are for APC. We have accepted you and we will not fail you. We have our PVC to play the game”.

Those who went on the consultation visit with the Okpe High Chief include; Chief Barr Adelabu Bodjor (Campaign Director General), Chief Tuesday Onoge, Chief Barr Abel Idigu, Chief Jordan Omogaga, Mr Sam Omoko, Mrs Akpovwerha Iriri, Dr Michael Omuvwie, Mrs Elohor Aziza, Pastor Mrs Ovuasa, Victoria Obakpolor, Comrade Okparavero Kennedy, and Engr Johnbull Sodje among others.
