  • Promises To Help Resuscitate Delta Steel Coy, Delta Ports, Others, As President

The Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has been described as the bastion of progress and development that will usher in renewed hope for the people of Delta State if he is voted in as governor in 2023.

This was the message of the APC’s Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to Deltans today at the Warri Township Stadium, on the occasion of the flag-off of the party’s Governorship Candidate election campaign.

Tinubu who stormed the oil city of Warri, accompanied by his wife, Senator Pastor Oluremi Tinubu, the APC Presidential running mate, Senator.Shetima, the APC National Campaign Director-General, Mr. Lalong, amongst others, stated that a vote for Omo-Agege as governor would be a vote for progress, a vote for development and a vote for renewed hope for Deltans.

According to him, he would work with Senator Omo-Agege as governor to bring back development, employment and progress back to Delta State, adding that PDP government has no vision and talent to revive the dwindling fortune of Delta State.

He lamented that with the 23 years of PDP rule in Delta State, there is nothing to celebrate, pointing out that the once-bubbling city of Warri has been on a sustained dive into ruin.

Tinubu assured that when he becomes the President, he would work with Omo-Agege to revive the Delta Steel Company, Delta Ports and create employment through entrepreneurship in the State.

He therefore charged Deltans to vote for Senator Omo-Agege as governor and himself as President, adding that they know the way to progress and development.

“The Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege is the next governor of Delta State. Ovie Omo-Agege is the next governor that will develop your Ports, that will work with me as the President, that will bring development back, that will bring employment back.

“What does Omo-Agege mean? Progress, what does Omo-Agege mean,?development, what will he bring?, renewed hope. Your ports, your steel industry and many other areas of development are not for sale, they are for development.

“They (PDP) will steal all the money if you leave it to them again. How long have they been there?, twenty-three years. What have we seen? Warri is going down.

“They don’t know the way, they don’t have the vision, they don’t have the knowledge, they don’t know the road to prosperity.

“We know the way. Go to Lagos and see development. Omo-Agege is here, development is here, prosperity is here”, he said.

Earlier, while addressing the capacity-filled Stadium, the Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, had reminded Deltans that the chance is beckoning on them to get rid of the present government and prevent the PDP Governorship candidate who is a stooge and cone if Okowa from becoming the governor.

He lambasted the incumbent governor for his failure to utilize the humongous revenue that has accrued to the State in the past seven years for development, adding that Delta will no longer accommodate the government of the PDP.

“Delta State is supposed to be one of the richest States in Nigeria. But despite all our receipts by way of federation account, FAAC, by way of 13% derivation fund and by way of internally-generated revenue, there is nothing on ground in Delta State that is commensurate with the receipts from the Federal government.

“Our people are tired in the midst of plenty. Our people are very angry and they want the narrative to be changed. Instead of bringing development, all they hear is Okowa taking more loans and more loans. Today, Delta State is the second most indebted State in the entire Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Today, all Deltans and those yet unborn have become debtors because of Okowa’s recklessness. And to add insult to injury, Okowa has decided to bring a clone, a stooge, one who is to continue from where he stopped. And our people are saying, no.

“They have decided to reject Okowa and his stooge. They want to change the narrative. And that is why I, Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy President of the Senate, formally put myself forward as the Candidate for governor in 2023”, he said.

The Obarisi of Urhobo land also encouraged Deltans to come out en masse at the unit and ward level to vote out what he called the tyranny of the PDP, adding that they should also vote for all other candidates of the APC.

He specifically urged Deltans to vote for the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, in order to have a firm grip of the federal government.

“In the same vein, I’m appealing to all our people that in order to change the narrative in the State, we need to control the federal government. We need to elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as our President. I know Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I didn’t just run into him yesterday.

“My relationship with him dates back to our days in Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN. And ever since, I have continued to maintain my social relationship with our incoming President. And I’m convinced that when we elect him as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in addition to the allocation he will give to us, we will have mega-projects we will all benefit from. And some of those mega projects, he is very familiar with them and he has interest in them.

“Go out to our units and campaign and vote out the tyranny of PDP. And when you are doing that, also come out to support all our candidates for Senate. We have in Delta Central, Chief Ede Dafinone; for Delta Central, we have Joel Onowhakpo and in Delta North, Senator Peter Nwoboshi.

“Come out and vote for all our House of Reps candidates and all our House of Assembly Candidates”, Omo-Agege said.

Others who spoke at the occasion include the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, Director General of National APC Campaign Organization, Hon. Simon Lalong, former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, among others.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of the APC flag to the Governorship candidate of the party by the National chairman, Senator Abdullahi who was represented by the APC Vice Chairman for South South.

Other personalities present at the occasion include the APC presidential running mate, Senator Shettima, Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodima, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senator Godswill Akpabio,

Also present are Delta Central Senatorial candidate, Chief Ede Dafinone, Director-General, Delta APC Campaign Council, Elder Godsday Orubebe, State chairman of the party, Elder Omeni Sobotie, Vice Chairman of the party for Delta Central, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, Dr. Alex Ideh, Hon.
