The House of Assembly candidate of the Accord party in the March 9 election for Ughelli North Constituency I in Delta State, Olorogun Ominimini Christopher Obiuwevbi has rejected the election result for the constituency as published by INEC, saying that the electoral umpire did not declare any result nor issue any result to anyone who contested in the election.
Ominimini who stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in Warri Thursday, also accused two APC chieftains in the local government area, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Engr. Samuel Adjogbe of allegedly using their powers to shortchange him.
According to him, Senator Omo-Agege allegedly hijacked some ballot boxes in Orogun wards and thumb printed ballot papers in the election, adding that in Evwreni ward Engr. Adjogbe did same. He alleged that election did not take place in Evwreni.
He said: “When elections are conducted results are declared. In my own case in Ughelli Constituency I, there was no declared result. In fact this is an act of wizardry.
“They refused to declare result, they refused to issue result. We have collation agents at the collation centres. As I’m talking with you now no result has been declared, no result has been issued. What we saw was that somebody was celebrating.”
Ominimini alleged that he won the election in Agbarha ward, Orogun wards I and II and Ogor ward, adding that in Evwreni there was no election.
He further alleged that while illegal thumbprinting was taking place in Evwreni town hall, he alerted the Electoral officer and the police, adding that they did nothing about it.
“And so we are saying that INEC should not accept any result from Evwreni because ab-initio, there was no election in Evwreni”, Ominimini said.
He also alleged that ballot boxes were hijacked and illegal thumb printing done in Orhomuru in Orogun.
Ominimini further alleged that he was further shortchanged when they refused to collate the result of units where he won.
He averred he “would pursue the matter vigorously to ensure justice is done”, adding that “I will use the instrument of law to fight for justice”.
