Director of Palace Administration, Olu of Warri Palace, Chief Clement Maleghemi, on Tuesday, said the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Ikenwoli is “indisposed and currently receiving medical care.”

An official statement by the palace chief made available to journalists, Tuesday, comes against the backdrop of news report that the revered monarch had died on Monday.

The Nigerian media has been awashed with the news of the monarch’s purported death since it broke late Monday.

However, the palace has said the monarch is only “indisposed”, debunking the viral news reports of his death. The palace added that a team of medical experts is currently attending to the monarch.

According to the statement by the Director of Administration at the Olu’s palace, further communication on the development will be communicated to the members of the public by the Traditional Prime Minister of Warri kingdom — Ologbotsere, Chief Ayiri Emami.

The traditional ruler ascended his fathers’ throne on December 12, 2015 following the demise of Ogiame Atuwtase II, his immediate predecessor.

The statement by the palace read, “the attention of the Palace of His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri has been drawn to news/social media speculations announcing the sudden demise of His Majesty.

“We wish to notify the general public that His Majesty is indisposed and currently receiving medical attention by a team of qualified medical specialists.

“Any further information on the subject would be made known to the general public by the office of the Traditional Prime Minister of Warri kingdom, Chief Ayirimi Emami, the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom.”
