Chairman of the Ajah-Badore forum of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Barrister Oladotun Hassan, has officially made public his intention to run for the National Publicity Secretary position in the NBA election coming up in 2020.
Following his invaluable contributions which has raised the Ajah-Badore NBA forum to new highs, Hassan who had served the NBA in numerous capacities in the past said the tremendous support he got from colleagues made him to accept the call to run for the national office.
“I have what it takes to deliver a thoroughbred national publicity Bureau with my invaluable experience, intelligence, hardworking spirit and innovative advocacy skills, which has kept the Ajah-Badore Forum, formerly the Lekki-Eti-Osa Forum, perpetually in the news,” he said.
Having become a rallying point for some pro-citizens and mass advocacy actions, Hassan said he will ensure the national body of the NBA benefits from the boisterous relationship he had enjoyed with the media spanning years.
One of such mass actions successfully led by him, was the protest against the astronomical hike in Lekki toll fares being charged by the Lekki Concession Company in 2018. The protest yielded results as the fares were reviewed downwards.
Among the to-do-things Hassan listed in his Manifesto was the creation of NBA Media Hub to ensure there is a robust engagement between the members of the bar in the country on issues that would further strengthen the legal practice, as well as to educate the Nigerian public on the matters of the bar.
“Based on solid partnership with major media houses, we hope to bring on board segmented programs for the benefit of the larger public audience across the nation on radio, tv and other available media platforms to discuss ‘Law and You’ this shall be a specially produced NBA Media Hub designed programme to create awareness on rule of law and raise opinions on various topics on the front-burner,” Hassan said.

This clarion call to duty came on the heels of the tremendous heights that the Ajah-Badore Forum, formerly known as the Lekki-Eti-Osa Forum has reached under my watch. I am committed to serve the bar, having pioneered as Secretary of the Epe Forum that gave birth to the Epe Branch, wherein I currently serve as the Assistant Secretary of the Epe Branch.
I have what it takes to deliver a thoroughbred national publicity Bureau with my invaluable experience, intelligence, hardworking spirit and innovative advocacy skills, which has kept the Ajah-Badore Forum, formerly the Lekki-Eti-Osa Forum, perpetually in the news.

Hence I’m of the firm believe that if given the support for the office of the National Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, expected me to bring to front my immense wealth of experience and media contacts to the service of the national Bar.
My vision is to rebrand and rejig the bar with pragmatic and dynamic programs that will add value to the NBA nationally viz:
Establishment of the NBA Media Hub, this is expected to create a wider spectrum of media presence via ensuring all Branch Publicity Secretaries of the NBA are synergized and galvanized for the common good of the bar and the Nigerian nation at large.
Based on solid partnership with major media houses, we hope to bring on board segmented programs for the benefit of the larger public audience across the nation on radio, tv and other available media platforms to discuss ‘Law and You’ this shall be a specially produced NBA Media Hub designed programme to create awareness on rule of law and raise opinions on various topics on the front-burner.

In appreciation and assurance of the confidence reposed in me by friends and associates, it is important to give a tip of my vision and what to expect if given the opportunity to serve as the next National Publicity Secretary.
My antecedents is predicated on the tripod of selfless service to humanity through indefatigable activism. For instance, I served as the Lagos State University Student’s Union Ag. Geberal Secretary as well Ag. Clerk of the Students Parliamentary Council, also held the position as Chairman of the Lagos Joint Campus Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students, between 2007 to 2009 where I led succesfully the struggle for the reversal of tuition fee hike and other positives, as the Convener of the widely publicised 9th February 2018 Anti-Lekki Tolling Protest against the astronomical increase of the lekki toll fares charges by the Lekki Concession Company, among several other positions I held with succinct track records of landmark achievements.
Upon my call to the Nigerian Bar, I have devoted myself to the pursuit of the progress of the Nigerian Bar Association. I served as the pioneer Secretary of the NBA Epe Forum that birthed the Epe Branch as the fifth of the Bar Association that completed the IBILE 5 division circle in Lagos State. I was a member of the Local Organising Committee of the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association held in Lagos in 2017, under the Chairmanship and able watch of Mr. Lawal Pedro SAN.
As Chairman of the Ajah-Badore Forum, which started as the Lekki Forum wherein i once served as its Secretary alongside with Mr. Ejeta Otuoniyo, Esq as the first Chairman before my nomination to the position of the Chairman of the Forum in 2018, afterwards was its renaming as the Lekki-Eti-Osa Forum, and presently as the Ajah-Badore Forum due to the Chief Judge of Lagos State, His Lordship, Honourable Justice Kareem Alogba’s recent announcement of the naming of the newly built Ajah-Badore High/ Magistrate Court, I proudly led a collective struggle towards the speedy completion of the High/Magistrate Court Ajah-Badore, Lagos now ready for commissioning, while utmostly building the Forum towards accreditation as a Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association.
I am optimistic of providing a standard pedestal to the office of the National Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, come the 2020 national elections, I will never let the bar down.
