After the tragic incident that followed the killing of 17 Nigerian soldiers in March, 2024, the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council (DSTRC) weekend urged the Delta State government, including the Local Government Councils, to embark on speedy moves to rebuild the decrepit community of Okuama.

This was stated in a 4-point communique presented by the Chairman of DSTRC, and Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Major–General Felix Mujakpuero Rtd, Orhue 1, in Asaba, Delta State.

Unveiling the essence of their demand, Mujakpuero asserted: “The reconstruction of Okuama Community will alleviate the sufferings of the people and facilitate the early return of the displaced residents to their ancestral home.”

Also, in the communique, the DSTRC expressed its gratitude to the Urhobo nation for the major contributions put in place by the leadership of the Ukoko Irie Urhobo.

Led by its Chairman and Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, the Ukoko Irie Urhobo recently visited Okuama’s Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camp and presented several food items.

Among those who attended the traditional rulers meeting in Asaba were the first vice chairman and Pere of Akugbene Mien, Pere SP Luke Kalanama V111, the second vice chairman and Obi of Ubulu Unor, Agbogidi Henry Kikachukwu 1 PHD, and the immediate past chairman of the council and Obi of OWA, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor 11.
