Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has announced the appointment of eminent journalist and a former THISDAY newspaper’s senior editor, Collins Edomaruse as his Special Adviser on International Development Partners.
This was contained in a press statement issued on Thursday. Okpebholo expressed confidence in his ability to navigate complex international partnerships, stating: “I believe Collins will fearlessly champion our stories and drive impactful initiatives that benefit our state.”
The New Diplomat reports that Edomaruse is a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (FNGE), a founding member of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers of Nigeria (GOCOP), and the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of METROWATCH online newspaper.
He has a significant background in journalism, having held several senior editorial positions at THISDAY, including roles such as Group News Editor, Group Politics Editor, Deputy Editor, and Editor, Nation’s Capital/Abuja Bureau.
He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Co-Founder of Igbanke Unity Forum (IUF), and served in the Edo State Inauguration Planning Committee for Governor Okpepholo.
Edomaruse, who hails from the Igbanke area of Edo State, attended Asaba Technical College, Delta State. He holds a postgraduate degree in Communications Studies.
