The Edo State govenor, Monday Okpebholo has approved the appointment of six new officials to various key roles within his administration.

The appointments were announced in a communique signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, and made public on Friday evening.

According to the communiqué, the appointments are to take effect immediately subject to screening and confirmation by the State House of Assembly in cases where that requirement is compulsory.

The announcement would be the second to be made on Friday.

Earlier, on the same day, Okpebholo had announced former house of assembly member, Ganiu Audu, as his Chief of Staff.

However, in a slight departure from the previous statements announcing appointees, the credentials and profiles of the newly appointed officials were attached in a bid to justify their appointments.

The newly appointed officials include Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu as Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Lucky Enehita-Inegbenehi as Managing Director of the State Waste Management Board, CP Friday Ibadin (retd.) as Corps Commander of the Edo State Security Corps Governance, Stainless Ijeghede as Managing Director of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency, Lucky Eseigbe as Managing Director of the Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency, and Emmanuel Ehidiamen Okoebor as Commissioner for Finance-designate.

The statement emphasised the governor’s commitment to selecting experienced professionals to advance the state’s development agenda.

“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Dr. Iyamu as the SUBEB chairman,” the communiqué stated.

Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu, now leading SUBEB, brings an impressive background in both academia and business.

“He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Benin,” the statement read, adding that Iyamu also possesses a Doctor of Science in Petroleum Resources from the European American University.

Additionally, he attended Oxford University’s Said Business School and earned a Professional Doctorate in Leadership and Management from the City University of Paris. Before his appointment, Dr. Iyamu was the Chief Executive Officer of Gabbem Integrated Services Ltd, specialising in marine equipment and services.

For the State Waste Management Board, Okpebholo appointed Lucky Enehita-Inegbenehi, effective November 15, 2024.

Enehita-Inegbenehi holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management and a Master’s in Strategic Leadership and Governance from the University of Cape Coast.

“Enehita-Inegbenehi is a dynamic and result-oriented professional with extensive experience in leadership and human resource management.

“He has proven abilities to analyze complex issues, develop effective strategies, and guide teams towards success,” the communiqué said.

He previously held the CEO role at JEI Visions Iron Metals, JEI Visions Service Apartments, and JEI Visions Cleaning Services.

Another notable appointee is retired Commissioner of Police Friday Ibadin, who will serve as the Corps Commander of the Edo State Security Corps Governance.

Known as a “global security icon,” Ibadin has a distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force, including an international assignment with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo.

He holds degrees in Philosophy and Law and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007.

The communiqué described him as “one of the 11 officers seconded to the United Nations Mission in Kosovo,” with extensive training in security courses in Egypt, France, and the USA.

Mr. Stainless Ijeghede was appointed to lead the Edo State Traffic Management Agency.

“Mr. Stainless Ijeghede holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and had a successful career in the Petroleum Industry, particularly in the Well Engineering and Safety Department of Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria Ltd,” the statement said.

After a distinguished career at Shell, he retired and will now take on a new role in public service.

Lucky Eseigbe will serve as the Managing Director of the Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency.

He obtained his LL.B and LL.M from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and has served as a Legislative Aide, Legal Adviser, and Consultant to members of Nigeria’s National Assembly from 2007 until his recent appointment.

Lastly, Engr. Emmanuel Ehidiamen Okoebor was named Commissioner of Finance-designate. Born on October 21, 1972, Okoebor holds a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Benin.

With over 25 years in the banking sector, including roles at Standard Trust and United Bank for Africa (UBA), he rose to the position of Assistant General Manager and currently oversees 15 UBA business offices as a Regional Manager.

“Engr. Emmanuel Ehidiamen Okoebor MBA is also a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a registered member of COREN,” the statement added.
