Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has nominated four additional candidates for consideration to as commissioners to join the State Executive Council, bringing the total number of nominees and appointees so far to 26.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Umar Musa Ikhilor, listed the nominees as Dr. Jerry Uwangue, Dr. Kenneth Okoruwa Ihensekhien, Barr. Usenbo Paul Ehigie, and Akhigbe Osi John Sunday.

Their names have been forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

Dr. Ihensekhien, one of the nominees, previously serves as Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly (1999–2003) and held several commissionership portfolios, including Youth and Sports; Energy and Water Resources; and Agriculture and Natural Resources.

He was also Deputy Chief of Staff to the governor and Principal Private Secretary to the APC National Chairman between 2018 and 2020.

So far, nine commissioners have been sworn in, while eight others have been screened and confirmed but are yet to take the oath of office.
