ASABA—Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has said that his administration will focus on skill acquisition and entrepreneurship to reduce youth unemployment in the state.
Speaking at a thanksgiving service at the First Baptist Church, Oghara, held in honour of Erhiatake Ibori, legislator representing Ethiope West Local Government Area, Okowa said that his administration will create conducive environment for skill acquisition, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment in order to create more job opportunities for Deltans.
He explained that given the present financial challenges in the country, the state government cannot employ everybody into the state civil service, adding: “When technical and entrepreneur skills are developed and nurtured, it will become easier to obtain micro-credit support, create employment outside government and the state economy will prosper.”
