Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa over the weekend paid an unscheduled visit to interstate boundaries in the state to measure the level of compliance with the resolve of the governors of the 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory to ban inter-state movement in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

Okowa made this known via his official verified Twitter handle, @IAOkowa.

According to him, “Earlier today, I paid an unscheduled visit to the inter-state boundaries to assess the level of compliance in regards to the directive to restrict all inter-state movement to essential goods, services, and personnel.

We paid this unscheduled visit to assess the work that our security agencies and the youth are doing to ensure the directives are strictly adhered to” he tweeted.

According to Okowa, this has become imperative in order to curb the spread of the disease in the state.

“The interstate movement of goods and services has been restricted to agricultural, pharmaceutical, and essential services. The reason for this is because we want to limit the number of persons moving across states to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease in Delta State” he added.

Recall that the governors of Nigeria’s 36 states on April 23, 2020, agreed to ban interstate movement for two weeks in an effort to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.
