Current Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oborevwori who enjoyed the backing of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa polled a total of 590 votes to defeat 12 other contestants who participated in the primary.

Oborevwori defeated incumbent Senator representing Delta South, Senator James Manager and a former Commissioner of Finance, Olorogun David Edevbie at the primaries held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium along Nnebisi Road, Asaba.

Edevbie scored a total of 113 votes to place a distant second while Senator James Manager scored 83 votes to place third.

The Deputy Governor, Kingsley Burutu Otuaro scored 9 votes tying with former Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Peter Mrakpor, who also polled 9 votes.

Olorogun Fred Majemite scored 6 votes while Ejaife Odebala scored 3 votes; Angozie Bradduce 3 votes, Bright Gift 3 votes and Lucky Ikie 1 vote; Esievo 3 votes.

The total votes cast were 824 while there were 3 voided votes.

Olorogun David Edevbie left the venue of the Primary even before the commencement of the voting exercise. A close confidant of Edevbie disclosed that the defeated aspirant would explore his option B, but he did not disclose what the option is.
