President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has vowed to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to release the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu before he leaves office on May 29 this year.

The IPOB leader who was bundled from Kenya, East Africa, has been incarcerated at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja for his alleged involvement in terrorism activities.

Chief Iwuanyanwu assures that the expeditious release of the IPOB leader would checkmate the incessant social unrest and reckless killings currently being experienced on daily basis in the South East region.

The President General who acknowledged that the Igbos have benefited from the Buhari administration with the completion of the second Niger bridge, said the release of Nnamdi Kanu would be a good parting gift to Igbos from the President.

He disclosed that the association has resolved to unite all warring factions in the South East.

The Igbo National leader disclosed that the planned Igbo World conference was put on hold due to the continuing incarceration of Nnamdi kanu.

He said with the release of Nnamdi kanu, anybody found in the South East agitating for any sort of liberation, would be treated as a criminal by the people and government of the region.

The Elder Statesman blamed the perennial social unrest in the South East region on the high rate of youth unemployment.

Chief Iwuanyanwu reiterated the preparedness of the world body to work assiduously in uniting Igbos in other states like Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta and the world at large.
