The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), has berated Southeast Governors for disowning the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

OYC, in its reaction noted that the secessionist agitations by IPOB is a reality which has the true intentions of the Igbos, saying that the governors lack the sense of reality of the demands of the Igbos.

The New Diplomat had reported that the Governors, who met in Enugu State over the weekend disowned the activities of the proscribed IPOB.

According to the Governors, the call for secession by IPOB is not a representation of the yearnings by the entire people of the region, saying that the group has no right to speak on behalf of the South East.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued by the OYC national president, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, the group lampooned the governors for lacking the impetus to fight for the rights and demands of the South East region they are representing.

According to the statement, the agitations of the IPOB is like a ‘tsunami wind’ waiting to consume the ‘South East governors.’

The statement partly reads, “It’s obvious that Southeast governors and stakeholders have lost sense of reality on ground as regards the quest for self-determination by many pro-Biafra groups.

“Let the world understand and know the truth that Southeast governors and stakeholders are the remote cause of any perceived violence by self-determination groups in Igbo land, that is why all the self-determination groups are headed by Ndigbo, this implies that Ndigbo are in lack of credible leaders and denied of justice in Nigeria.

“The groups agitating for independence in Igbo land are not just the wind but a ‘tsunami wind’ that will blow and cause Southeast governors and all the stakeholders in Igbo land to summersault beyond recognition.”
