The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied viral reports claiming that a popular Nigerian businessman and socialite, Obi Cubana took pictures with its staff.

The anti-graft agency who issued a disclaimer on Friday described the viral photo as false and a mischievous stunt pulled by certain persons to soil the reputation of the agency.

Earlier on Friday, a photograph containing Obi Cubana and some persons purported to be EFCC staff went viral on social media, with many claiming that the said photo was purportedly taken when the socialite was in the custody of the anti-graft agency in Abuja.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued by EFCC’s Head, Media & Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, the anti-graft agency denied the reports.

The statement reads, “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) wishes to disclaim a trending photograph in the social media purported to have been taken by socialite Obi Cubana in the premises of the Commission, crowded by people described as staff of the EFCC.

“The said picture captioned: EFCC Crew poses for quick photograph with billionaire socialite and businessman, Obi Cubana, was not taken in EFCC facility and the people therein are unknown to the Commission.

“The Commission warns the public not to be misled by another mischievous stunt by Cubana’s publicists.”

Recall that Obi Cubana was recently interrogated by the operatives of the EFCC on Monday. He was later freed on Thursday, November 4.
