The wife of Edo state governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, has called the bluff of Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial district of Edo state, at the Senate over remarks about her being childless.

Obaseki’s wife, who spoke while addressing over 200 women via a Zoom meeting declared that she was not what Oshiomhole says, noting that she had conceived and experienced miscarriages, painful stillbirths, and evacuations of babies who died in her womb.

She stated this while reacting to a jab Oshiomhole threw at her saying that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, has children in whom he has invested their education, adding that their mother joined them at recent campaigns.

The Edo state first lady urged childless women to see themselves not as barren but as fruitful, potential, and proud mothers of children that would come in God’s time.

She said: “My words of comfort to you, like myself, who have conceived and experienced miscarriages, painful stillbirths, and evacuations of babies who died in our wombs.

“And as a result, have no children to show for the pain we have endured, is this: You are not barren.

“I dare to call you fruitful. You and I are potential and proud mothers of children who will come in God’s time. Enjoy the life God has given you.

“Take your mind off your challenge, and before you know it, children will start coming.”
