Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki at the weekend renamed Mr. Osarodion Ogie as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG in Edo State.
Mr Obaseki also put on hold for now, the constitution of his cabinet, saying that no further political appointment would be made until February next year.
A three-paragraph statement issued from Government House read among other things thus: “The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has approved the appointment of Osarodion Ogie Esq., as Secretary to the State Government.”

In the statement, Obaseki also disclosed that Ogie’s appointment was the only political appointment he would make for now until February next year.
It would also be recalled that Osaridion Ogie played the same SSG role during the first term of Obaseki. Like a recurring face in Edo state government circles, Ogie similarly served first as Chief of Staff, and later as Commissioner for Works during the eight-year administration of Obaseki’s predecessor, comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the governor of the state.
Ogie becomes the first political appointee in Edo state to be re-appointed as SSG since 2008 when Comrade Adams Oshiomhole assumed power as governor of Edo state. It would be recalled that Oshiomhole had worked with two SSGs during his first term as governor, and one in his second term.
That made it three SSGs that served during Oshiomhole’s era. However, Governor Obaseki, in contrast to Oshiomhole’s time, has re-named Ogie as his SSG in his second term. Thus, Obaseki has opted for one SSG both in his first term, and during his second term, at least for now.
