A former two-term President of Nigeria as well as a former military Head of State, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, is currently in Minna, Niger State.

It was gathered that the former president arrived at about 4: 15 pm in a private jet.

He reportedly arrived Minna from Benin City, Edo State where he had gone to felicitate with the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, on his 90th birthday.

Following his arrival in Minna, it was gathered that Obasanjo headed straight to the hilltop residence of former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB).

It was also gathered that another former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), and a former National Security Adviser (NSA), General Aliyu Gusau (rtd), had already arrived at Babangida’s residence.

While the details of the meeting remain sketchy as of press time, it was gathered that the purpose of the meeting was likely to centre on the economic challenges confronting the country.

Checks indicate that given their standing in society, it is not unexpected that the elder statesmen are expected to discuss and advise on plausible solutions to the economic challenges facing the country.

Another newspaper, Daily Trust which reported the story with the headline: State of the Nation: Obj, Abdulsalami, Gusau hold strategic meeting with IBB in Minna” said the elderstatesman might have met over the economic hardship in the country.
