Former President Olusegun Obasanjo met with Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello in Abuja on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by Mohammed Onogwu, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Bello, his principal and the former President met behind closed doors and had a “fruitful discussion” on the security crisis in the country.

The statement reads, “Former President Obasanjo noted that the fight against insecurity should have everybody on board, stressing that governors should involve everyone to ensure insecurity is curtailed in Nigeria.”

Speaking at the meeting, the former president commended the Governor for his effort in developing his state.

Obasanjo also charged the Governor to “continue to be an advocate for youth involvement in governance”.

Responding, Governor Bello appreciated Obasanjo who is ever ready to support young leaders and share his wealth of wisdom.

The governor described Obasanjo as a distinguished elder-statesman.

Bello also assured Obasanjo that he will continue to try his best in ensuring the safety of lives and properties of his people, adding that he will ensure he fulfils all the promises he made to the Kogi electorate.
