Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) defending champions, Akwa United may share some similarities with Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, however, the two football clubs have had no love lost between them in the last six encounters.

Akwa United have won 3 and Shooting stars won 3 games as well. Both teams have never had reasons to share points rather both teams always show full strength at winning home games.

On Sunday 26th, December 2021 Match Day 2, promise to be a different experience. The ‘Oluyole Warriors’ drew first blood by planning ‘operation Akwa must fall’. This has so far challenged the Promise Keepers to defend their throne with all its arsenal, to give beaten Oluyole Warriors for Akwa fans to have a joyful Christmas celebration.

Akwa United former Barcelona Golden boy and lead goal scorer said the team is not taking the Ibadan challenge as a child’s play.

“I’ll do my best and my colleagues will be on their A-game tomorrow to get a maximum of 3 points” Ezekiel Bassey assured.

Ace Nigerian football midfielder, Seth Mayi boasted to fans that Sunday evening will not be business as usual.

“We are ready for business, we started well last week beat Kano Pillars 3-0 and are not going to slow down because we know how important this match is to us.

Akwa last season conquered NPFL with the highest goal scorer, Charles Atshimene and a few losses while Shooting Stars left Nigeria National League (NNL) with Olamfhian Gafar leading goal scoring.

Will there be a new record between the two strong oppositions? Yes, Shooting Stars are well-motivated playing home with fans support. A newly promoted side with a strong finisher.

Akwa will fill out as NPFL champions, with a newly injected set of strikers with a winning mentality that Kennedy Boboye and the management team has developed with a successful outcome.

Also, Akwa united is coming into the Boxing Day game with a new Captain, Ubong Friday that will lead ‘operation takes Ibadan’ by force with his sterling infield performance.
