“The Northern Regional Caucus donated the sum of N45 Million Naira to the families of the victims of the unfortunate incident. He also announced the decision of the leadership and members of the House of the House of Representatives to build blocks of classrooms, maternity clinic, community hall, solar powered boreholes and access roads in Tudun Biri Community. The House of Representatives project in Tudun Biri village will cost about N400 Million.
“In my brief remarks, I thanked the Northern Caucus for their visit and expressed delight at their emphasis on thorough investigation into the Tudun Biri incident. We must get to the root of this tragic incident. There was a similar incident in the past and nothing was done. It is heartwarming that the Federal Government has given a commitment to thoroughly investigate the incident.
“The National Assembly must take a critical look at the laws on security. Most of the laws are obsolete. We must update them to align with global best practices. At the moment there is no synergy between the federal and state governments on security. We are Chief Security Officers but have no operational control over security forces in our states.
” We must therefore seize the opportunity offered by the constitutional review process to create State Police. State Police would be more effective in intelligence gathering and will prevent the recurrence of tragic incidents like the unfortunate Tudun Biri military drone attack.”
