Following the report that seven political parties have formed a coalition to offer strong opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has refuted claims that its party is in merger talks with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Others it rejected merger speculations with are the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

A statement issued by Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, on behalf of the NNPP House Caucus, Friday night, confirmed that the party has not attended any meeting or discussed any merger talks with PDP or other political parties.

“Our attention has been drawn to a widely circulated message on some sections of the media that our great party, NNPP, is mulling merger with others.

“There is no element of truth in this. It’s a blatant lie. Our party has consistently maintained a neutral stand that we are open for collaboration, alliance and even merger with the APC, PDP, LP and any other political party.

“There is presently no talk whatsoever ongoing and the party did not attend any meeting to discuss coalition or merger with PDP or any other party. It is an act of mischief makers and should be regarded as such.”
