The Nigerian Institute Of Management (NIM) is set to honour the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori with an ‘Award Of Management Excellence’.

Zonal Chairman, South South Council Member of the Institute, Sir. Emmanuel Okeibunor Okafor disclosed this when members of the Institute paid the Speaker a courtesy visit at his office in Asaba.

According to him, the Speaker who is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), has contributed greatly to the Institute, adding that the Speaker will be honoured with the Award at the  Annual Summit of the Institute billed for August 3rd to 5th, 2017 at Uyo,  Akwa Ibom State.

“It is mandatory for the Institute to conduct an Annual Conference every year. This year’s Conference is coming up at Abuja at the International Conference Centre from the 17th of September. So, Mr. Speaker, we urge you to be there. We are also going to hold our Annual Summit from 3rd to 5th August this year”, he said.

He added that; “Mr. Speaker, you are a manager par excellence and your coming to mount the saddle has made a lot of difference. As a member of our great institute, you have displayed great managerial skills and Management has decided that the next Annual Summit coming at Uyo, you will be awarded with an Award of Management Excellence. So I congratulate you in advance.

“Our governors and highly rated personalities from the South South will be in attendance. So Mr. Speaker, this is why we are here, first and foremost to congratulate you on your recent emergence as the Speaker and to inform you about our upcoming events both at the Zonal and at the National level. We implore you to always be a good Ambassador of the Institute which you have always been.

“Please do not abandon us here in Delta for the fact that we have the Speaker as a member. It makes us to walk tall that the Speaker is our member. We implore you to please do everything within your power to enhance the fortunes of the Institute now that you are here, particularly to ensure that you draw some membership from this House to the Institute.”

Responding, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori expressed gratitude to members of the Institute for the visit, saying he was humbled.

He said:”It is a very great privilege to be visited by members of this great Institute. Ordinarily I would have loved to visit members of the Institute but today you are here to see me.  I am happy for this great show of love that you have shown to me. It will encourage me more to contribute to this institute. I have been contributing before to the Institute, now I am going to contribute more.

“I am very proud to be a member of the Institute and I know that one day I will be a fellow. I am going to make sure that I draw my members to join the institute because the Institute has members who are professionals. When you are a member of this Institute, there are a lot of benefits that you will get. You cannot be in this House without having management experience.”
