Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday announced that Covid-19 cases in Nigeria have risen to 38,948.
NCDC released the latest figure after logging in 604 new cases overnight.
The nation has continued to see a rising trend in the number infections in July, even as experts have said the peak is still weeks away.
The Commissioner for Health in Lagos, Professor Akin Abayomi on Thursday said the Covid-19 prediction model for Lagos indicates that the pandemic would reach its peak in August, followed by the flattening of the curve and a gradual decline in the number of cases.
Abayomi while addressing a Covid-19 press briefing in Lagos said: “We believe that in the next week or two, we are going to see an increase in both the private sector testing and public laboratory testing.
“We are still seeing a gentle increase in the number of cases overtime cumulatively. Lagos will theoretically peak in the month of August, it will flatten out and over some time, we will see a decline,” the Commissioner added.
