The death of the founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Olori Omoba of Ijebu-land, Otunba Michael Balogun, has been generating wide sympathy even as no official announcement of the death of the high-ranking Ijebu chief has been made.

Family sources said he died Friday morning in London at the age of 89 and Nigerians are not waiting for the usual ritual before the announcement of such a high chief before expressing their minds. The New Diplomat captures some of the reactions.
