In her words: “Going against the advice of those around me, but it doesn’t feel right. Silence can say so much. My fellow Nigerians, forgive me for taking so long to comment.”

“I would be lying if I said I’m DIRECTLY affected by SARS but a lot of my Cupcakes are and that’s enough for me to care. I stand behind the movement to #EndPoliceBrutality AND #EndSARS 🇳🇬”

Most Nigerians angrily reacted to her post with some  stating that it shows she is less concerned.

Unlike DJ Cuppy Other Nigerian celebrities, Falz, Runtown, Mr Macaronii have joined the movement to protest and canvass for the outright scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force known as ENDSARS protest.

Read some Twitter reactions against DJ Cuppy’s stance:

Cuppy implied she was advised to not talk about #EndSARSImmediately And I get it. Some people on my team advised me against it cause of brands and stuff also some were in support and they joined me but at the end of the day nah who Dey alive go work with brands sha. #EndSARS@IFE_AKIN

Nigerian banks, telecom companies, big, medium and small brands should be tweeting the hashtags #EndSARS and #EndPoliceBrutality. That way, we know they won’t victimise or blacklist any artists or influencers participating. I said it yesterday. I don’t blame Cuppy!@Ogbeni Dipo

What cuppy said is not a lie, the rich & powerful will always tell themselves to stay out of it whenever these issues come up..@Yojara

So many Nigerians stood with us as we have protested police brutality against Black people in the US. Now we should do the same. I wouldn’t have seen this if Cuppy hadn’t tweeted. Respect. Even more respect to those risking their life for this change. #EndSARS #BLMEverywhere.@TamiSawyer

It was unnecessary. Talking from both sides of the mouth. Thought she was smarter to rate us better than that.@the_emaediong

Cardi B isn’t a Nigerian but she was concerned about what was going on immediately she got tagged, but Cuppy a Nigerian said “I was advised not to say anything.”

That speaks a lot of volumes.

Dear Nigerians, a reaffirmation the the rich amongst you only care about themselves.@Allezamani
