A Nigerian student named Ufot Ekong has solved a 30-year-old mathematics equation at Tokai University, Tokyo in Japan.

Ekong is the third son of Late Capt Ufot Ekong and Annie Ekong of Etinan Local government of Akwa Ibom State.

According to a report by Flotilla Magazine, Ufot Ekong studied Electrical Engineering at Tokai University in Tokyo, graduating with a First Class degree and the best marks at the university never seen in 50 years since 1965.

The 29-year-old Akwa Ibom scholar who is also an alumnus of Bells Secondary School, Otta in Ogun State began his success early at the university, solving a 30-year-old maths equation in his first semester.

Throughout his university career Mr Ekong won six awards for academic excellence.

The mathematician worked two jobs alongside his studies to pay his way as a student.

Mr Ekong also speaks English, French, Japanese and Yoruba and won a Japanese language award for foreigners. He is currently working for Nissan and already has two patents for electronic car design to his name.

Ekong currently works for Nissan and has already patented two products, as well as making an electric car which reaches up to 128 kmph.

Tokai University is a prestigious private university based in the Japanese capital, which was founded in 1924. It is focused on the science and technology and roughly 60 percent of all students are enrolled in these schools.

Ekong has written and published numerous papers to his credit, chief among them are:

*Field-Weakening Control for Torque and Efficiency Optimization of a Four-Switch Three-Phase Inverter-Fed Induction Motor Drive.

*A Field Weakening Control Strategy for Four Switch Three Phase Inverter Fed Three Phase Induction Motor Drive.

*Evaluation of Transformation Matrix for Instantaneous Vector Control of Four Switch Three Phase Inverter fed Induction Motor Drive.

*Improved Torque and efficiency of a four switch three phase inverter fed induction motor drive.

*Instantaneous Vector Control of Four Switch Three Phase Inverter Fed Induction Motor Drive.

*Flux Weakening Control for Torque and Efficiency Optimization of a Vector Controlled Four Switch Three Phase Inverter Fed Induction Motor Drive.
